What Helped for Me

Interested in pursuing other ways of getting help for betrayal trauma? Here’s the resources that I’ve pursued that worked for me:

Groups

  • Pure Desire Ministries – This is a Christian ministry dedicated to helping men and women overcome sex addiction and betrayal trauma. They provide both in-person and online support groups. Visit their site to find a group near you.
  • Celebrate Recovery (CR) – I would describe this as the Christian version of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). They use the same twelve steps as AA, and their program is for a wide range of hurts, habits, and hangups beyond alcoholism. Visit their site to find a location that hosts CR groups near you.

Websites

  • Bare Marriage – This is a blog by Sheila Wray Gregoire, and I read this regularly! Sheila posts about marriage, sex, and critiques about many Christian bestselling books. She has also written several books that have been huge game changers for me. Visit her blog or visit her new Substack page to see what she’s all about!
  • XXXChurch – an organization that helps people deal with pornography addiction and helps people leave the porn industry.
  • Fight the New Drug – an organization that educates the public about pornography’s harms with science-based evidence.

Books

Not an exhaustive list of the books I’ve read during my recovery, but here’s the books I’ve found the most validating, informative, and helpful:
